1. The Program

Funerals and memorial services often have nice printed programs. These explain the order of the events. There may be a eulogy planned, a religious service, etc. The program serves as a small memento that can remind you of the event. It may be too difficult to see the value at first, but that can change. At some point, you will be able to think about the funeral without searing pain. This will take place.

2. The People

Look around at showed up at the funeral. These are men, women, and children who loved the deceased enough to want to pay their respects. Your eyes may be blinded by tears, but you can still see who’s around you. It’s possible that the deceased had relationships that you were unaware of. If you don’t feel up to having a real conversation, that’s okay. You can confront these memories later, when you feel better. The memory of the funeral, and who attended, may stay in your mind forever.

3. Emotions

How are you feeling? It’s very important to pay attention to. It may be tempting to lose yourself in the rush of emotion, to allow everything to become a blur. However, you will be stronger if you recognize what’s happening to you. Every feeling can bring you closer to your imagined ideal. You don’t want to forget about the deceased/, but you do want to live your best possible life.

4. Words

Take note of what everyone says. At some point, those words may be used to help you understand what happened. The deceased has passed on. You may learn more about the deceased by listening to what other people say about him or her. These words are sort of a tribute to the life of the deceased. You can’t ignore them, but you may be able to use the words to your benefit. You don’t have to participate in conversations but you should try to be present.

5. Atmosphere

The mood may be grim at the funeral, especially if the death of the deceased was unexpected However, that may not be the only emotion you encounter. Grief affects people in strange ways. Some people may seem happy because they’re focusing on all of the good parts of the deceased’s life.
