When some you love dies, preparing for a eulogy is never easy when you're already grieving. A certain amount of pressure is there for you to choose the right words while grieving for your precious loss. But, you never want it to be imperfect no matter how much heavy burden is it on your shoulders.

We’ve gathered five tips for writing the perfect eulogy

Keep your eulogy brief

When you plan to write a eulogy for your loved one, you can easily get caught in long and emotional thoughts and may end up writing eulogy that can run for even half an hour. Never do this.

Undoubtedly, you want to express your feelings about your loved one but at the same time, you need to keep in mind the audience. Too long of a eulogy can lose people's interest. For that reason, keep the eulogy as brief as possible (no more than five to ten minutes) and make sure to express what’s on your mind about your loved one.

Always bear your audience in mind

Before writing a eulogy, make sure to decide what you want people to feel about your loved one. You should have a complete image of your audience that will be right there for the funeral. Obviously, most of them are closely attached to the deceased, consider those words that make people feel comfortable and gives them a sense of healing at the same time. The memorial is a painful time for the majority of the people, your words can make them feel something good when they hear the qualities that the deceased possessed.

Include stories

While presenting the eulogy, never make a list of event stories of your loved one's life. Include two or three stories from different stages of your loved one life and make sure these stories will help everyone remember the happy times that they have spent together with the deceased. Also, it can provide a great insight into the life of your loved one. For choosing the right stories, you can ask your loved one's relatives, neighbors, and colleagues as it's a vital part of grieving your loss.

Stay Positive while writing a eulogy

Everyone has ups and downs in life that control our decisions and sometimes we end up making wrong choices. Keep in mind that your loved one was no exception. There is nothing wrong to express those low points of your loved one that how the deceased one fought back. But, it would be better if you stay positive at all times while presenting eulogy and keep the negativity away from it. Otherwise, it would leave a bad impression on the audience. With your words, you can even heal someone from the audience who had a conflict with your loved one once. For that reason, make sure to stay positive while writing a eulogy.

Prepare

Make sure to be well-prepared and read your eulogy several times a day before the funeral in front of the mirror or even in front of a couple of close friends or relatives. Cremation services Red Hill, PA, aren’t easy but they can help you heal.
