Direct Cremations vs Cremations with Service

Falk Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. • May 11, 2020

There are different types of cremation options available. You may or may not choose to host a memorial. You should learn what’s possible. Read this post if you have any questions.

When it comes to cremation services Allentown, PA, you have options. You can choose direct cremation or you can opt for cremation with service. If you choose the first option, your loved ones remains will be cremated and then returned to you immediately. There is no memorial service. By contrast, if you choose the latter option, it’s similar to a funeral. After the deceased’s remains are cremated, the mourners gather for a memorial.

The right option for your family depends on a variety of factors that can’t be predicted. There are many, many reasons why the most private option is the most fitting. It could be that the deceased specifically requested not to have a memorial. The deceased’s wishes should always be respected, if possible.

Direct cremations mean the family chooses not to have a public, traditional memorial service. However, it doesn’t mean that mourners are prevented from paying tribute in their own way. People who receive the ashes may decide to scatter them in an important location. This can be an intensely private event.

Hosting a more traditional memorial service can also be a good idea. It gives people a chance to say goodbye and can provide solace. Cremation services provide something that many people expect. The traditions are steeped in our culture. Of course, that doesn’t mean that you have to model the cremation service off of typical examples. You can plan whatever type of cremation service you think your family will be most satisfied with.

In a sense, it can feel as though nothing is going right after someone you love dies. Life continues, but the person who you depended on is no longer around. It’s mind-bending. There’s so much that you want to do, but nothing seems like it will be enough. Laying someone’s memory to rest can be a complicated task.

Whatever option you choose, you should feel completely comfortable. You can’t bring your loved one back from the dead, but you can go through the rituals and rites associated with death. These have been providing comfort to men and women for thousands of years.

If you decide to host a cremation service, you may need to take on all of the responsibilities yourself. If you are in this position, it’s natural to feel pressure as to the time. The cremation itself needs to take place soon after the deceased’s death. The memorial, however, doesn’t have the same restrictions. If it makes sense to delay the event for whatever reason, you’re free to do this. This might be a good idea if the mourners need extra time to gather. In modern times, it’s common to have friends and family members spread out across the world. People may not be able to travel to the memorial city in just a few days. By giving them time to travel, you increase the possibility that they’ll be able to attend. These events are special, by taking to travel is not easy.
