How to Help the Grieving Friends

Falk Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. • Jul 19, 2021

Are you trying to find ways to help a grieving friend when you can’t be there in person? You can do things like sending a care package after the funeral and more. Here are tips.

Cremation services Red Hill, PA, help you lay your loved one to rest. The ongoing pandemic has made life incredibly hard for every single of us – not to mention the ones who have lost their loved ones during this time.

It has turned every aspect of social life upside down including the ways we used to offer condolences to the bereaved. At a time when social distancing measures in place or you can’t be there in person, here are some meaningful ways you can rely on to help make life a little easier for someone grieving.

Create a Grief Package

This is probably the most thoughtful and caring thing you can do for a loved one who’s mourning the loss. A grief care package contains various daily use items that the grieving person may need in the coming days. While coping with the loss, running errands or cooking meals is probably the last thing on the mind of the bereaved.

While you can include anything in the grief package, below is a list of some most useful items that you should consider buying.

Grocery Products

Make a list of the daily-use grocery items including frozen foods and have it delivered to them. Sending food to the bereaved is a long-held tradition in America and many grocery stores offer a complete grief package to ease the burden of going out and shopping yourself.

It’s better to let them know that you’re sending them a food package so it doesn’t sit out for too long.

Happy Memories of the Deceased

Nothing gives the bereaved more comfort and satisfaction than hearing or listening to the loved one’s positive memories. Instead of sending flowers, you should compile the photographs of the departed soul, or create a video of their favorite moments and send it to the bereaved family.

It may sound like a small thing but anything that reminds of the lost loved one matters a lot to the grieving.

Comforting Gifts

Expression of sympathy and comfort are warmly welcomed and appreciated by the bereaved. Show your ultimate love for them and send comforting gifts like a weighted or gravity blanket, candles, journals, pajamas, bath bombs, lip balm, a mix of delicious cheese products, an ice-cream assortment, or even a sympathy card.

At a time when you can’t give them a hug or a direct visit, sending such comforting is a symbol of acknowledging their loss and showing your unconditional love and support for them.

Offer Practical Help

Many people are in dire need of practical assistance but they refused to ask. It’s not wrong to ask the person if they need any kind of help, be it emotional or financial. Don’t hesitate to ask if they are low on something and want you to drop it off.

Give the grieving person a couple of weeks after the loss to let them determine what would be most helpful. Even hiring a cleaning service or delivering the bathroom or kitchen equipment can be the sort of practical help they need.

If they refuse your offer, respect their wishes and if they do, follow through on it. All of these steps can help you connect to grieving people before or after cremation services Red Hill, PA.
